- St. George, ME 04860
Tenants Harbor Light (also known as Southern Island Light) is a lighthouse at the mouth of Tenants Harbor, St. George, ME. The brick lighthouse was built in 1858, and stands alongside the keeper's house and an oil house/bell tower built in 1906 which has now been converted into a studio. The federal government discontinued Tenants Harbor Light in 1934 and was subsequently purchased by a Rockland resident, who later sold the property to famous artist Andrew Wyeth. The island is now privately owned and is not open to the public. It is best seen by boat. (Image courtesy of Facebook user: "Sheila's Maine")
