Popham Beach State Park
- 10 Perkins Farm Lane
- Phippsburg, ME 04562
- (207) 389-1335
On the south side of the mouth of the Kennebec River, lies Popham Beach State Park. One of Maine's rare geological landforms, the park features a long stretch of sandy beach where sunbathers can relax and collect shells. Fox, and Wood Islands can be seen offshore, and the Kennebec and Morse Rivers border each end of the beach. Visitors can walk to Fox Island at low tide, but will want to pay attention to rising tides. Lifeguards are on duty, however, beachgoers should note that there is a strong surf with undertows, and should swim within their abilities.
