Hendricks Head Light

This light is located at the Sheepscot River entrance in Cozy Harbor, nearest to the town of Southport. This light can be viewed from a beach in West Southport or by boat cruises in the area. The light was noted for the intensity of storms to hit in the area. The lighthouse was featured in historian Edward Rowe Snow's "Famous Lighthouses of New England," relating a well-known story involving the light, a storm and a shipwreck that happened in March 1875.
