Located in Richmond, ME, this British Colonial fort was built in 1720 on the western bank of the Kennebec River in response to Indian raids. Fort Richmond was attacked and destroyed by warriors from Norridgewock in 1722, and later rebuilt in 1740. The fort was attacked by another drive at Swan Island in 1750, and was dismantled shortly after. Currently, all that remains is an archaeological site with no visible remains.
