Fort Halifax
- Halifax Street
- Winslow, ME 04901
Located on the Kennebec River in Winslow, ME, the 1754 era fort was built for the protection of settlements against Indian raids. In 1987, a severe flood dismantled the blockhouses, and today only a single blockhouse survives. In 2011, the Town of Winslow drafted plans to rebuild some of the fort and to expand on the sites' recreational opportunities. (Photo courtesy of Instagram's @klonowskibacon and @smanthschqualist)
