Aroostook State Park holds the honor of being Maine's first state park, developed in 1938 when interested residents of Presque Isle donated 100 acres of land to the State of Maine. The site became an official state park in 1939 and has now grown to over 800 acres. Aroostook State Park is the ideal starting point for discovering the Northern Maine Woods, the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, and Canadian provinces such as New Brunswick and Quebec.
