I am pleased to announce that we have four new Board of Directors members who will join us for their first meeting later this month. These members were unanimously voted in at our Annual Meeting in May. Here are the members and brief biographies.

Avery Day is a partner in the law firm of Stevens and Day. Avery previously served as the Governor’s Chief Legal Counsel and as Acting Commissioner of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. He also worked at Maine’s largest law firm focusing on government relations and litigation matters. Avery graduated from George Washington University and Harvard Law School. He lives in Yarmouth with his wife and two children.

Brian Langley owns and operates the Union River Lobster Pot Restaurant in Ellsworth and spent 27 years teaching culinary arts at Hancock County Technical Center. He has served 10 years in the Maine Legislature representing the people of Hancock County—two years in the Maine House of Representatives and eight years in the State Senate. He graduated from the University of Southern Maine and Syracuse University. Brian and his wife live in Ellsworth and have two grown children.

Lee Speronis is an Associate Professor and Director of the School of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management at Husson University in Bangor. Before joining Husson, Lee managed a premier restaurant in Bangor, was an area director for a major restaurant company in New York, and worked as an attorney in Florida. He is a graduate of Stetson University, and lives in Bangor with his family.

Katie Spiridakis is the Marketing & Communications Manager at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. Prior to joining the museum staff in 2014, Katie served as editor of two national trade publications at Moose River Media, a Vermont-based business-to-business media company. She holds a B.A. in English: Writing & Journalism from Lyndon State College. Katie lives in Bath with her husband and son.

Our returning board members and I welcome them and greatly appreciate their willingness to serve. They will be tremendous assets to our board and we look forward to working with them.

Sincerely,

Chris Fogg, CEO
