Farmers’ markets and general stores have amazing Maine-made sweets, maple syrup and preserves, as well as jewelry and handicrafts. In the summer you can find succulent farm fresh berries, baked goods, meats, and cheeses. Brownville is a haven for these old-time venues, while Greenville is a hot spot for finding local crafts. Recognized for its hand crafting of clay, glass, and metal products, The Maine Craft Association is a great resource for craft enthusiasts visiting the Highlands.

Explore the antique shops for a vintage Victorian tea set, fine period furniture, farm implements, or lovely linens from another era. Own a piece of Maine history with a visit to a local antique shop in Holden or Bangor. Look for maritime pieces such as pond boats and half hulls.
