Maine State Visitor Information Center in the Acadia Gateway Center
The Acadia Gateway Center is owned by the State of Maine and operated by the Maine Department of Transportation in partnership with the Maine Office of Tourism, Acadia National Park, and Downeast Transportation Inc.
The facility offers free day-use parking, a bus stop for the Island Explorer and commercial tour buses, and an 11,000-square-foot information center featuring exhibits and information about Acadia National Park, the region, and the state. Additional amenities include retail space, restrooms, and a comfortable waiting area.
The Maine Tourism Association will operate the State Visitor Information Center located within the Acadia Gateway Center on behalf of the Maine Office of Tourism. Like the other seven Maine State Visitor Information Centers across the state, this location will provide visitors with information on Mount Desert Island, the DownEast Acadia Region, as well as statewide information.
To take advantage of marketing opportunities within the visitor center, individuals and businesses must be members of the Maine Tourism Association.
