Combine a fly fishing and backpacking trip into the heart of Baxter State Park, and what do you get? A trip of a lifetime!
Mid-September is prime time for brook trout fishing! Surrounded by the mystique of the dramatic Wassataquoik Valley, we may have a chance to catch the rare blue back trout, along the way. A great family trip to introduce both the young and old adventurer to fly fishing.
This trip leads us 7.5 miles along the Russell Pond Trail out of Roaring Brook Campground. Choose to base camp out of Russell Pond Campground for the duration of the trip, or select from a variety of backcountry sites to hike to throughout the week. Each campsite offers fishing opportunities just minutes away from our campsite. Six nights and seven days of backcountry exploration and fishing, within some of the most remote wilderness ponds of Maine!
This is a moderately challenging hike for people with an average level of physical fitness. Prior physical conditioning is recommended. You can expect our backpacks to weigh in at 50 lbs., to ensure that you've got the gear enough to stay comfortable in one of Maine's most remote backcountry locations.
Book for a one on one trip, or up to a total of 3 participants.
1:1 guide/client is $995, or $550 per each additional client. Organize a group of 3 and the trip will be just under $700 per person. Larger groups, up to 6, available by request.
Camping reservations, food, group camping gear, fly casting lessons, rods, tackle and transportation from Millinocket to Baxter State Park included. Limited backpacks available on request. Shuttle from Bangor International Airport to Millinocket, ME, available by request, also.
