POWNALBOROUGH COURTHOUSE is located just off SR 128. The only pre-Revolutionary War courthouse remaining in the state, this three-story 1761 structure includes a furnished courtroom, judges' chambers, bedrooms, kitchen, tavern and parlor. Before he became president, John Adams once tried a case at the courthouse. Displays of antique tools and machinery chronicle the area's history. A Revolutionary-era cemetery is on the grounds. Guided tours and nature trails are available.
