Mid-Coast
Mid-Coast Beyond Casco Bay, the coast of Maine changes dramatically. Instead of the sandy beaches and wide expanses of shoreline to the south, you’ll find the famous finger peninsulas.
These nine long, narrow points of land extend from Route One out into the ocean, with an abundance of scenic coves, harbors, inlets, points, promontories and offshore islands. Mid-Coast Along these craggy peninsulas, you’ll find picturesque towns, stunning vistas and yet another facet of Maine’s distinct character.
This region boasts some of the state’s oldest and most picturesque fishing villages, including larger harbor towns such as Bath, Boothbay Harbor, Camden and Rockport as well as more rural, inland communities like Unity and Liberty. Here, Mainers honor a proud maritime culture and celebrate their heritage through the arts. Romantic inns and restaurants, postcard-perfect lobster shacks, opportunities for shopping and antique hunting, and many historic lighthouses await the Mid-Coast explorer.
